Day Two

Keswick to Little Salkeld

Waited for the rain to ease before leaving Keswick @ 11a.m. for a pleasant ride alongside the Greta river on an old train track.

Lunch was a very nice pub in Mungrisdale

We managed a coffe stop while the rain lashed down in the afternoon, and spotted the sun, briefly, in Penrith.

Hartside Pass is beginning to loom in the distance . . .

Dinner involves walking back to this pub, where smoking is not so much permitted as actively encouraged.

Highlight of the Day:
The ride out from Keswick, criss-crossing the river Greta. A red squirrel, just outside Penrith

Tip of the Day:
When the forecast is showers and the rain starts to lash down, know where the nearest shelter is. In our case the Sportsmans Arms, just off the A66, and a very big tree just outside Penrith.
